Paying for Peace and Quiet
Does this picture look familiar? Resemble your life? |
Why have people gotten to a point where they must be busy all the time?
Why do people not set aside time to allow for a much needed break to recharge?
Let us look at those who get skincare and massage treatments on a regular basis. Most think they are simply paying for great skin and healthy muscles. These is so much more to these services. A key part is paying for peace and quite. Dim lit room, eyes closed. No text reading. No TV drama. No computer work. No family. No all around over stimulated activity.
NOW....
Who would not want to experience being pampered and taken care of?
The facts are most people simply will not set up a quiet room in their home and they will not ask the other people in their life to give them this quiet time to simply shut off electronic equipment and just be.
- Have a standing facial appointment every month.
- Keep these appointments on a regular basis.
- Turn your phone off or silent during the service.
- Ask your esthetician to help you take this time and make the experience peaceful. *this means keeping talking between you two to a minimum.
- Ask for hot herbal tea or warm water to help bring your body to a relaxed state.
- Take in all the sounds, smells, sensations. Use your other sences instead of your sight for a change.
- If you have the ability set up a quiet room in your home.
- A bedroom or cozy chair are perfect spots to make a retreat from the outside world.
- Remove TVs, computers, and turn your cell phone volume off.
- Have relaxing music.
- Aromatherapy candle or linen spray *good relaxations scents are: eucalyptus, lavender, cinnamon, sage. Stay away from citrus as it energizes
- Create a spa setting in your bathroom.
- Roll hand towels and wash cloths up and keep in a basket near the sink
- Have Epsums salts in a container on the edge of your tub for easy reach when drawing yourself a weekly bath. It helps relieve tired muscels as well as make skin baby soft.
- Candles always create the romantic feeling and scented ones add a dual effect with some light aromatherapy.
- Classical or Jazz music is great as a soft back ground sound while soaking the stress of the week away.
- Have a spray bottle of eucalyptis.

New Years Detox...
How?
~ Purge ~ Replace ~ Move ~
Step 1 - Purge
Personally I like a bath to ring in the new year. I use Arbonne's SeaSource Soak

Facials - The benefit will help to clean out pores, exfoliate dry dead skin, bring renewed blood to the face for healthy cell building, and move toxins out.
Massage - The benefit will help to move toxins out of the areas of your body that have allowed these to build up over the holidays.
Enjoy a Facial, Massage, and Mud Wrap or Bath soak
Step 2 - Replace
2 Protein Shake Mixes - Chocolate and/or Vanilla
1 Energy Fizz Tabs - Citrus and/or Pomegranate
2 Fit Chews, Chocolate
2 Herbal Detox Teas
1 Daily Fiber Boost

Step 3 - Move

Summer Glow without the Sun

- When can I squeeze in some tanning time?
- Do I risk using a sunless tanner?
- Should I buy a tanning salon membership for the next month?
- Maybe I should try a spray tan...?
All very good questions. As a skincare expert I can tell you the fastest way is to get a professional spray tan to help fight the ghost white leg syndrome. But you need to find someone who really knows what they are doing. I have seen it all too many times, a person ends up with orange hands and feet because the person spraying doesn't lighten the spray in this area. Or the person getting the spray tan hasn't exfoliated properly before.
The next best option is the sunless tanner at home. Don't be afraid of this. If you prep your skin properly you will have wonderful results. Keep in mind...sunless tanners can NOT be applied just before you head out the door. Here are the steps:
- Exfoliate your skin (meaning - shower, do any shaving needed, use a loofah and scrub entire body paying extra good attention to the front/back of hands, wrists, elbows, knees, tops/bottoms of feet)
- Towel dry your skin
- Apply sunless tanner evenly and in equal amounts in the areas you wish to tan (for the first couple applications I recommend using a body lotion in equal amounts to be used with your tanner...mix them together in your hand before applying)
- Wash hands
- Lightly wipe the areas that are listed as areas to pay extra good attention in step #1
- If your self tanner says to wait before dressing...I highly recommend you pay attention to this or your cloths may end up with a tan as well.
**The tip of applying your sunless tanner with a little body lotion works for me since I am on the extra white side...and my skin tends to be dry.
The product I use and recommend is:
Arbonne's sunless self tanner
Have a safe and glowing Summer!
